Ballad of a Striver
This was a lovely poem whipped up on the night by Lucia Errity
You’ll have to join Strivers’ they told us
‘Cos the craic there is second-to-none
And if you take lessons and practice
You’ll love it, and golf is such fun’
‘You’ll have to join Strivers - just face it
You need to get trim, you’ll admit
And those jeans that you just cant get into,
After three months of strivers - they’ll fit!’
‘Come on and join strivers’ they implored us
Until we could no longer resist
So off we trekked over to Halpennys
With a few bob and a big shopping list.
‘Aren’t you glad you joined Strivers they ask us?
Aren’t you thrilled to be one of the gals?
Sure where else would you find anyone nicer?
Where else would you meet better pals?’
Now here we all are in Mount Wolsley
Tired stiff and unable to walk
But for all of our aches we’re still happy
‘Cos thank God we’re still able to talk
We’ve had fun, we’ve been spoiled, we’ve been pampered
We’ve had goody bags packed to the hilt
And the girls spent the whole day waiting for us
And poor Julie was cold in her kilt
I’d like to thank Aideen and Julie and Team
Whose hard work and devotion brought us here
And now can we please raise our glasses
And give them a well deserved cheer!!
Thanks alot Lucia
Cheers
Aideen
