THE STRIVERS LADIES GOLF SOCIETY

WELCOME TO THE STRIVERS GOLF SOCIETY WHICH IS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR BEGINNERS PLAYING 9 HOLES ONLY, AND ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON!!

ABOUT THE SOCIETIES

The golf society started back in 2004 for beginners who were having lessons with me! I formed the name “Strivers” for complete beginners. This society was set up in a way that you would play with beginners at your own level therefore feeling less intimidated playing 9 holes only once every three weeks on one of the many courses we used around North County Dublin,
I remembered back when my own father 1st brought me out on to the golf course and allowed me to tee my ball up on every shot, drop the ball from heavy rough and also from big bunkers, if I missed the ball he would say “Don’t mind that just try again”.
With the result it gave me confidence to play golf and every time we played together he would introduce the shot off the ground, the shot from rough and so on.
So in the Strivers Golf Society we adapt these rules, Category 2 are the complete beginners, we allow them to 1, tee the ball up until they reach the green, if they wish, 2, fresh airs don’t count, 3, free drop from heavy rough and bunkers and 4, once they reach 10 shots just pick up and mark X, we will give them a 10 max per hole.
Category 1 players have the same rules except for the Fresh air rule plus dropping from rough and bunkers.
We found that this idea appealed to a lot of ladies in particular and in year two we had an over flow of members queuing out the door at our 1st introductory meeting of the year.

I then decided to set up the Stormers Golf Society, this society was there for all players advancing from the Strivers, so that there was always room for new comers to join the Strivers every year, and it helped keep the meaning of why the Strivers society was there in the 1st place.
A lot of the Stormers also felt they were not quite ready to “Enter the real golf world just yet”
So we made it that Stormers have the choice to play either 9 or 18 holes, and real golf rules. We introduced all the different formats of golf and created a matchplay event.
Ladies and Gents play in this society.

THE STRIVERS SOCIETY IS FOR ALL LADIES THAT ARE NEW TO THE GAME OF GOLF.

THESE ARE THE MOST COMMON REASONS FOR JOINING JOINING A GOLF SOCIETY IS MORE FINANCIALY VIABLE THAN JOINING A GOLF CLUB. TO JOIN US FOR ONE YEAR COSTS €90, RENEWED MEMBERSHIP IS €75.

● WE HAVE A SOCIAL ASPECT TO THE GAME.

● AS YOU WILL BE PLAYING WITH AND ALONGSIDE OTHER BEGINNERS AND NEW PLAYERS THERE WILL BE LESS INTIMIDATION.

● WE GET TO EXPERIENCE LOTS OF DIFFERENT COURSES

● WE PROVIDE GENERAL KNOWLEDGE ON THE GAME AND RULES OF GOLF

● WE PLAY 9 HOLES AS STRIVERS.

● WE HOLD APPROXIMATELY 15 OUTINGS PER YEAR (ABOUT 1 EVERY 3 WEEKS) BETWEEN FEBRUARY AND DECEMBER.

● YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO AN AMAZING WEEKEND AWAY TOWARD THE END OF THE YEAR WITH ALL THE CREW!
